2016 Swiss National Day in Pembrokeshire & North Wales

South Wales

As every year for the last 10 years, some of  the South Wales Swiss gathered at Beat & Elisabeth Wehren’s Fronhaul in Little Newcastle in Pembrokeshire to celebrate their National Day on 1st August 2016

Unfortunately, the weather was quite miserable on the day and prevented lounging in the beautiful garden, but this not dampen the spirits. Beat is always well prepared and his little Swiss garden chalet could accommodate all of the 40 guests. On the menu was pork chops, sausages, sauerkraut and pasta and the ladies brought some Swiss desserts along.

To keep with Swiss traditions the Swiss President’s speech was read out, the National anthem listened to and the overall live music were welsh folk tunes provided by guitarist James McDonald (Mac).

A short write up of the event appeared in the local paper. Read here

North Wales

On the 31st July the Swiss in North Wales celebrated the National day at Ghislaine and Martin’s place and were lucky to have a great sunny day.
